A comic about imperfect superhumans (secretly about disability).

Late pledges available for Zip #4

The Team

Mike Scrase – Writer

Mike was born in Nijmagen, The Netherlands. He lives with his fiancée in Bristol, UK: the city where every day is Talk Like a Pirate Day. In the past he’s mainly written for comic anthologies like The Psychedelic Journal of Time Travel and Cats Committing Crimes.

He is a visually impaired writer with dark sensibilities, but not without a sense of humour. His work often includes themes of disability, mental health, holding authority to account, and challenging societal norms.

San Espina – Artist

San is an Argentinian born artist whose work is often in black & white: giving it a thrillingly underground edge. He’s been drawing independent comics for 20 years, and has worked on SiscoKid for Moonstone, and Ageless for Celiber, among other titles.

He lists his influences as Argentina locals Alberto Breccia and Lucas Nine, as well as Travis Chares, Moebius, and Juan Gimenes.

Ferran Delgado – Letterer

Ferran is a Portuguese letterer who has worked on both Marvel and DC comic books.

Michelle Swinea – Sensitivity Reader

Michelle is a sensitivity reader whose goal is to offer a cultural competency analysis with a focus on ableism via the area of mental health.

Cover Artists

Vanessa Cardinali

Vanessa is an Italian artist who illustrated Zip’s dramatically colourful alternate cover. Her backlog of work boasts titles published by Image Comics and she is known for her work on The Golem of Venice Beach in collaboration with Bill Sienkiewicz and Jae Lee. Her covers are featured in Zip #1 and Zip #2.

Matthew Schofield

Matt is a comics artist and writer who’s passionate about superheroes and Silver Age comics. He created 60s superhero spoof title Steamroller Man, and he’s also the storyboard director on The Simpsons. His cover is featured in Zip #2.

Francesco Tomaesli

Francesco has worked with many major publishers in the comic book industry, such as DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Image Comics, BOOM! Studios, Dynamite Entertainment, Source Point Press, ABLAZE Publishing, Kid Comics, Heavy Metal Magazine, Scout Comics, Upper Deck and many more. His cover is featured in Zip #3.

Giulio Centrella

Giulio is a comics artist from Italy who has worked with Crash Comics and Zip publisher Markosia.

Ray Friesen

Ray is a comic artist and children’s author known for his series Ninja Chicken vs Pirate Penguin. He previously worked with Mike Scrase in the anthology Cats Committing Crimes.
