A comic about imperfect superhumans (secretly about disability).

Late pledges available for Zip #4

Twelve days in and we’re at 78% funding!

Thanks to all of our Kickstarter backers, we’re closing in on our goal with under a quarter of our funding goal to go!

First look at Ferran Delgado’s lettering!

Yesterday Ferran emailed me with a draft version of the lettering for Zip #3. Here’s an early scene in which the corporation which created The Hive demonstrates the ‘small glitch’ which they need investments from their shareholders to iron out:

Black and white comic page in a gritty style. A spokesman in a lab coat is wielding a remote control, while gesturing to a lab rat in a glass tank. In the opposite corner of the tank is a moving puddle of liquid metal. The spokesman says "now, before I switch off The Hive's inert mode, I'd just like to reassure everyone that this tank is made of some of the strongest bullet proof glass in the world. It would take heavy artillery to break this stuff. And even then, it might take a while." The spokesman presses a button on the controller he holds and the liquid metal leaps towards the screeching rat. In the next panel, a group of shocked shareholders are reacting in horror as a huge sound effect represents the rat's agonising screech.

I’ll be updating our campaign story with more excerpts of lettered pages soon.

I’ve also added a new section to our Kickstarter page’s story designed to give synopses for our back issues, to give new readers a quick idea of what the plot of each issue is.

Social media support

With the mass exodus of Twitter, I’ve seen a lot of new followers on Bluesky, and with that, some really kind words about Zip #3.

Screenshot of a Bluesky post linking to this campaign. Text: "Hey, support indie comics! And this art is real slick."

And Hollow Girl‘s Luke Cooper shouted us out on Facebook:

I always love to hear your thoughts on Zip, so if you have any, backers can leave a comment on this very update. Alternatively, you can get in touch via FacebookInstagramThreadsBluesky, or Tiktok.

It may only take a few more pledges for us to reach our goal, so don’t forget to back the campaign to reserve your copy of Zip issue 3, or share it with your friends if you already have!

New Matthew Schofield cover announcement to follow, soon!
